Hi All!
It's been some time since I've been here.
I had a beautiful 2003 9-5 Aero. This car was mint! I purchased the car several years ago for $1500 from a friend at work. The car had 200K miles on it and the oil light was on. I did the pan drop and saved the engine just in time. I ended up putting another 80K miles on it. It was the best car I've ever had! Fast, smooth, comfortable and great on gas!
This winter was very mild, and after a spell of no snow fall I removed the snow tires. Shortly there after, I tried to drive to work one morning after we had an overnight storm. On my way into work the car started to slide off the road, there was nothing I could do to stop it. I wrapped it around a utility pole. Totaled. No insurance. I had it towed home for future parts.
I really wanted to hit 300,000 miles with it.
After lots of looking, nothing good in my area I found a car 500 miles from me, a 2005 9-5 Aero with 89000 miles. It's a nice car, runs great, even better on gas. I've driven it over 5000 miles without any problem until last week.
I went to go home and the car would not start. It would turn over; pop once like it wanted to start but then just crank and crank. I had fuel at the fuel rail so first thing I thought was CPS or the Direct Ignition Cassette. Took the parts off my 2003 and still no start! Thought the fuel pressure might be too low so I swapped the fuel pump which was new and still no start.
After looking at the owners' manual and checking all the fuses I happened to stumble on the security system section in the manual. My security light would flash twice pause flash twice pause. Manual stated it was immobilized, bring to the dealer. I disconnected the battery for several minutes, connected it and the car started right up!
Any ideas what happened? Never had any faults on the SID. I'm puzzled about this.

It's possible that your key and the car had got out of sync. Normally this would stop the remote key working. Do you have any problems with this?
If th remote stops working, it's possible to resync the key by pressing the button 5 times or so.
Hi
Thanks for the reply. I don't think they got out of sync. When I went to go home that night, there was no indication of trouble.
The doors unlocked, SID went through its checks and said OK. Everything seemed normal! Nothing displayed about a key problem.
I don't know!
Have a look at my recent post about the ignition switch in the topic 'Non-start' which sgould started a few weeks ago. Normally a problem with higher mileage on older vehicles, but it really depends on the number of starts - we are told that people over the pond will use the car to travel from one shop to the next a few hundred feet away!
