Title: Audio won't turn off.
Post by: sgould on 06 November 2012, 11:17:13 PM
After a miserable trip home on the train tonight, I was collected at the station and we got home.  SWMBO turned off the ignition and the radio stayed on.  No response to the on/off switch.  But the rest of the audio would work.

There was a problem with "Telephone" showing on SID randomly, so I disconnected the Parrot system, but nothing changed.

Eventually I pulled fuse 14 and it all went dark.

Any thoughts?

I'll have a play in daylight tomorrow.  But it seems a bit odd.  What would override the on/off switch?  Which just beeped when pressed.

I don't think so.  I suppose it's possible.  But the main audio unit (EHU) has a main battery feed and an optic connection to the ICM on the dash.   There's no ignition feed to the EHU.  I haven't checked out the inputs to the ICM.

But as she was having trouble with telephone connections, I disconnected the Parrot.

Parrot is still disconnected.  This afternoon I replaced fuse 14 and everything seems to be back to normal at the moment.  We shall see.  Hopefully it's a reboot that has fixed it.

if you could lock the doors with the remote it wouldn't be the switch..

if the switch at the bottom of the ism stays down, you can't lock the doors with the remote as the car still thinks there is a fob in the ism..

I had, a not to dissimilar problem once where when turned of the ignition and lock the car, all the green backlighting stayed on. A quick disconnect and reconnect of the battery sorted it out, and it's never come back.
