Hello,
I have a 05 9-5 2.2tid 150K miles.
1stly got the engine management light come on and off intermittently. No other symptoms.
Then went into limp mode after about 2 weeks.
I cleaned the EGR valve twice which clears the error for a short time but car still not running properly. Get chucky & smoky when it's chucking. After a while goes into limp mode again.
Got it connected to computer came up with the errors
P0244 Turbo waste gate solenoid 'A'
P2227 Barometer Pressure sensor "A'
Also an EGR valve error.
Mechanic said they are all interrelated turbo waste gate error could cause the EGR to clog up.
He thought the turbo was ok after he reset the error and probably is the EGR.
Couldn't say without leaving it in for sure.
Or could be a Air mass meter problem.
- But probably take expensive man hours to find the fault.
Can anyone suggest where to look?
I'm not familiar with the diesel engines in these cars, but I do have a workshop manual that covers them. All I could find was this.
The last bit above, links to this, which is a bit stranger....
(only four attachments per post...)
For P2227 I found this. The last bit refers back to the same pin fault. But maybe you have an engine control module fault. I can't see a factory pin fault taking 7 years to cause a trouble code...
It could be that the EGR valve needs replacing. If after it's been cleaned and the car still goes into limp mode especially when accelerating, then this could be the problem.
I've had it done on my car and the car was back to normal straight away. Most Saab garages/garages have done loads of these as it's a common problem.
