Title: DIY for replacing the soft top cover cylinder due to leak
Post by: Tom on 01 August 2014, 02:26:50 PM
Hi, I am new to this forum.  I live live in Florida but right now I wish I live back home in Sweden 30 minutes from Trollhattan, lol.  I bought a 2006 93 Aero convertible a few months back knowing there was an issue with the top, STC unit was fried. I replaced that but still could not get the top to engage. It turns out that I have a leak from the right soft top cylinder or line preventing to soft top cover to open.  It is a long story how I got there but I am trying to find a DIY for replacing the cylinder unless it will require some expensive tools I don't have.

Has anyone dealt with this problem and can offer information for a solution?

Thank you in advance,

T.

Welcome! :)

I afraid I have never worked on a convertible.

I would suggest that you search on-line for a CD that has the Saab Workshop Information System (WIS) and Electronic Parts Catalogue (EPC).  That will give you full detailed methods for doing almost all repairs on the car.  Only works on a Windows 32 bit software. It's a bit old now.

The attachment below gives you an idea of the headings for the convertible roof and each items opens and tells you what to do.
