Title: LH Dip fail warning on SID
Post by: smudger on 19 July 2011, 07:55:47 PM
have checked the bulb and it works fine, but when the fail comes up on SID as soon as i touch the holder the light comes on.

I then go and switch on and off numerous times with no problem.
Leave the car with ignition off for 10 mins or more come back switch lights on LH headlamp not working.

Can anyone give me any ideas on what could be causing the problem?
I have checked all the connections and the only thing i can think of is the headlamp holder.

But the connector on the back provides the earth so Help.

I'd start off by replacing the bulb just in case it's a dodgy one. Also is the bulb the right way up? I can't think how the bulb holders work on the 9-3 but on other SAAB models it's perfectly possible to get the bulb into the headlight upside-down and it will then work in a similar fashion!

Eliminate the bulb (or not) by switching it over with the one on the other side - if the fault moves there, the chances are it's the bulb.  ;)
