Title: Brake Pads
Post by: steventon95 on 10 February 2025, 09:12:41 AM
The ancient 9-5 is in need of new front brake pads. There seem to be a zillion brands out there. Which are good 'uns, and which shouldn't be touched with the barge pole?

The standard pads are OK.  I have used Pagid as well with no problem.  I avoid EBC after a complete pad failure with their Greenstuff pads which were fitted.by the previous owner. But that was a while ago and they don't recommend the Greenstuff for bigger cars now.

Eicher pads seem to have a poor reputation.

I can't really comment on standard stuff as I have the bigger 345mm discs on both our cars now.  But on those I have tried Mintex and Brembo.  The Mintex were good, the Brembo are also good, but need warming up a bit at first.  I think I prefer the Mintex.  I did try Ferodo but they weren't much different from Mintex in daily driving and they were a lot more expensive.

But beware.  There are a lot of fake brake pads out there.  Buy from a reliable supplier.  Even the security holograms are being faked these days.

I used Pagid for years, very happy with them, but they seem to have gone expensive & I got some Eicher super cheap from Euro on a clearance sale. They seem to be fine

Mintex always good

I saw that Halfords were selling Eicher pads alongside their own brand pads.
