Title: Heater / blower delay problem
Post by: Hulmey on 26 August 2011, 06:39:16 PM
I have a Y2000 Aero that has just developed an interesting feature.  Generally when it fires in the morning (parked on drive) I have no problems. But, when it has been driven, parked restarted - anything from 10 mins to 8 hrs - the heater blower does not spring into life for about 10 minutes.  The ACC unit displays all the right symbols and settings and even the AUTO/OFF reset test makes no difference, neither does making any changes to the settings or turning it on/off.  When it comes to life it's fine - any ideas??

Hi,
Sounds like your fan control unit could be on its way out. Dont know whether Tech 2 can test this item or not. As access to replace is very tight it might be worth a a main dealer visit to check out. When did you last have your car at a main dealer, as any software would be updated by them and your car could  need the ACC reprogramming. Sorry i cant help any better. There are people on here who have worked on the heater unit and i am sure they will post with advice on how to replace. I can E-Mail you instructions from WIS if you would like

Hi Steve

Thanks for the reply, both SAABs (she has a Y2001 V6 petol) are attended by my local main dealer for servicing (yeah I know it costs more but they are a friendly, family run business and I get excellent service) and it is due in in a few weeks so will see what they say

OK, it's been to the dealer and it was a dodgy heater unit - one second hand replacement and all is well
