Hi All,
Will shortly be replacing my rear discs and pads on MY01 3.0l V6 petrol and wondered if you had any pointers for cost to fit myself and is genuine parts the best and most cost effective replacement. Replaced 48000 miles ago, to be honest there still in spec but pads are getting low so may as well do the lot.

Rear discs seem to be about £60 - £70 a pair for genuine. With the pads about £30 - £40 an axle set. But I've seen the whole lot for under £80 on some eBay suppliers.
Have a look at sites like the Turners Hill Saab ebay site at "thgparts". And also note that the 9-5 rear brakes changed in mid-year 1999 so you will need the later type.
I've just done the fronts on our 9-3 with Pagid discs and pads from Eurocarparts. They may still have a 30% discount on Internet orders too.
The Pagids bedded in very quickly and the pedal feel is very positive
I can recommend 'Car Parts Connexions' genuine parts from Saab dealers at reduced prices - because the world is run by cost accountants who don't like stock stuck on the shelf. Parts nos. for discs is 5391537 and pads 5058110.
Had to have the rears on mine done before this years MOT and sourced the discs through 'Car Parts Connexions' IIRC they cost me just over £40 for the pair and got genuine pads from ebay.
I can second car parts connexions. You have to search to see if the part you want us available. But there are some bargains to be had.
If you want genuine and Car Parts Connexions haven't got them, then give Peter or Derek a call at Euro Saab Parts Direct
thanks all,
Am started my search today so will try all your tips , thankyou.

As above, Euro have 30% off brake parts.
