The VIN number on my car seems to be an amalgamation of both of the above versions, it is a model year 2009 but is in the following format :-

YS3FF46S4 91******

Which according to your post 2007 model format would make it a 9-3 Vector Convertible when it is actually a saloon. Also the character for the gearbox type is numerical as in your pre 2007 example, not alphabetical.

Ah, that may be correct... WIS is fuzzy about MY08 and MY09. Both are shown as MY10 in the decoder for some odd reason. So it looks like the change was from MY10 onwards

I've found this online VIN decoder useful;

Link: http://saabvin.com/ (http://saabvin.com/)

Decoder is valid for cars made since 1986 only!

Try this VIN Decoder - http://www.saabsportugal.com/en/vin.php - from SAABsPORTUGAL which will work from 1950 till 2012.

Using parts of your VIN - YS3FF46S and 91 - and inserting a serial number together with a valid check digit. You get a Sedan and not a convertible
