Title: Clean a lamda?
Post by: speedy on 27 October 2011, 08:03:40 PM
Took the car into the garage to investigate a recurring CEL following our turbo replacement.

The gizmo flagged up a lamda fault. We reckoned that wasn't unreasonable, given the old turbo had been burning oil for a while. The mechanic figures it would burn off after a couple of weeks so we'll see.

I think there are 3 sensors on the aero? Is 1 more likely to be contaminated than the others, and is there any point trying to clean them? I know they're not that expensive, but money's tight at the moment & if we have to replace all 3 we're looking at another £150 - £200....

Cheers

There are 2 sensors. Just replace the front one, I doubt it will make a difference cleaning it, but if you do try, use a totally non residue electrical cleaner. Also buy a decent sensor, not a cheapo job.
