Looking to change wheels from 17" to 16" for winter (9-3 , 06 , Tid sportswagen),does any one know which wheel will fit i.e. offset and such like.
It will depend a bit on which front brakes are fitted to your car. Our 1.8t has the smallest brakes 285mm and 16 inch fit with no problem. Any 6.5 x 16 inch wheel with a 41mm offset will fit.
That's the wheel that was standard on most of the range. But you might even get away with a 15 inch.
I bought a set of winter wheels and tyres from http://www.mytyres.co.uk Saab/GM 16 in steel wheels with 215/55 tyres. All new.
But ask your Saab dealer they have a very competitive offer on at the moment for winter tyres and wheels.
I know it's been discussed before, but don't forget to tell your insurance company you're changing the wheels/tyres. Don't give them any wriggle room whatsoever in the event of a claim. Read the policy small print, odds on it'll call for ANY mods to be advised. IMHO it should be taken literally.
ABI code of practice- do you need to tell your insurers or not:
