Title: 2.2 TiD would not start.
Post by: gbski on 12 December 2011, 07:32:31 AM
On Saturday morning when turning key just a click and nothing, battery appears ok.  I got a lift to work and in the evening and yesterday the car started no problem.  Any ideas  o' knowledgeable ones.
Thanks

Starter motor probably. I had the same problem with mine over the period of a few months. One day it would be fine, the next turn the key...all the lights come on as normal, ACC turns on etc, but no turning over. It got to the point where one day it took me 25 minutes one morning to start the thing and that was the final straw.

Changed my starter about 3 months ago and has been 100% since.

Is it an auto or manual? It could be the starter relay, the starter motor, the ignition switch, the auto gearbox transmission neutral switch. One thing to try if/when it does this again in future is to just hold the ignition key in the start position as sometimes they'll suddenly fire after a few seconds if it's a bad contact problem.

had a similar problem with my 9000 - I pulled the solenoid apart and found the arm was gummed up, so lubricated and reassembled.  Worked like a charm!
