Does anyone know if there is a good repair kit for rear screen heaters?
Mine is a 55 reg Vector Sport 2.2tid estate and the top 3 bars don't appear to work.
I doesn't annoy me as such but it would be nice to have all of it working.
Obvious answer to the first question will probably be .......No I can't see where exactly it is damaged...........
Cheers guys
Too dark to look at mine now. I think they all should work. On the saloon the top three elements are the AM aerial, I think.
But I've used the conducting paint to repair broken elements before. One was easy, the break was identified when the screen was misty as the water conducted for a while, and heated up more, clearing a blob around the break.
The other I identified with a multimeter. It's a while ago but if you bridge the gap you get a full 12v on the meter, but you have to scratch the surface of the element at various points to get through to the metal conductor. I'm not sure if this will work on a Saab as it has filters at either end and the voltage may be different.
On the estate you can get close to the screen with the door up. Would a magnifying glass help?
I will try an acquire a magnifying glass.
I must admit on my last estate they all worked which amazed me as I often carried my highly excitable black Labrador in the back..........mine would have been the only Saab to rust from inside out with all the sand he shakes off wet when visiting the beach. Praise the lord for the big rubber mat! ???
I will ask one of my sons to look closely as their eyesight is better than mine close up........................... ;D
