Morning
I've used Fuel Injection High Pressure hose inside the fuel tank. I got it at the auto parts store in town.
It was still working fine at 267k until I wrapped it around a telephone pole :'(

Classic Saab 9-5 (MY 1998-2010) / OBD Reader

Hi All!

Just wondering what brand OBD reader/scanner seems the best fit for the 9-5 Aero.

How much information can I get from a reader?

Any suggestions?

Classic Saab 9-5 (MY 1998-2010) / Cold Engine
30 October 2013, 03:07:42 AM
My friend has a 2001 9-5

Past few days the temperature gauge has not moved. The CEL is on and she says the engine seems cold after driving to work. Outside temp is in the low 40s not that cold out yet.

She says that there is heat in the car.

Any ideas? Stuck thermostat? Fan constantly running?

She is worried and wants me to look at it. What should I check?

Thanks!

So on a 2008 9-3 there's a chance that the alarm is in the boot (trunk) on the right hand side?

I'll check it out in the morning and let you know!

Thanks for your help!

Thanks!

So it isn't like the alarm on my old 9-5 which had separate batteries that could fail and cause the alarm to go haywire!

We will wait and see if it continues to cause trouble, and if so we'll bring it to the dealer to get codes read.

Tanks again for the help!

Hi
The battery was purchased just last summer.

Happy New Year!

My Daughter's 2008 9-3 Aero has started to act up!

Several times now after parking and locking the car the alarm system has has gone off! There's no wind blowing, no movement. She unlocks, then locks the car to reset it.

Any ideas?

Thank you for the reply!

Has anyone out there done this kind of repair?

I'll take a look at my crashed 9-5 and see what's involved, but it would be nice to know what to look for!

Classic Saab 9-5 (MY 1998-2010) / 2001 9-5 No Heat!

Hi Everyone!

Again looking for some help for my friend's car.

She seems to have no heat on the driver's side. All vents and floor on driver's side blow cold air, while passenger's side seems normal, hot. Engine temperature seems o.k..

I re-calibrated the heater control and the numbers "1" on driver's side and "08" on passenger's side showed briefly. A fault code?

I have another heater control from my other car which worked well if you think it will help.

I told her to learn to drive from the passenger's side! Didn't go over too well!

Thanks again!

Hi All!

Clicked on the link, no pictures are shown.

Are they gone?

I had wheel locks on my Mazda Miata a few years ago.

I too ruined the key and went into panic mode.

I soon learned that I was able to pound on a 17mm 12 point socket right over the lock and remove it with no problem.

I'll never use locks again.

Thanks to all!

Hi

Thanks for the reply. I don't think they got out of sync. When I went to go home that night, there was no indication of trouble.

The doors unlocked, SID went through its checks and said OK. Everything seemed normal! Nothing displayed about a key problem.

I don't know!

Hi All!

It's been some time since I've been here.

I had a beautiful 2003 9-5 Aero. This car was mint!  I purchased the car several years ago for $1500 from a friend at work. The car had 200K miles on it and the oil light was on. I did the pan drop and saved the engine just in time. I ended up putting another 80K miles on it. It was the best car I've ever had! Fast, smooth, comfortable and great on gas!

This winter was very mild, and after a spell of no snow fall I removed the snow tires. Shortly there after, I tried to drive to work one morning after we had an overnight storm. On my way into work the car started to slide off the road, there was nothing I could do to stop it. I wrapped it around a utility pole. Totaled. No insurance. I had it towed home for future parts.

I really wanted to hit 300,000 miles with it.

After lots of looking, nothing good in my area I found a car 500 miles from me, a 2005 9-5 Aero with 89000 miles. It's a nice car, runs great, even better on gas. I've driven it over 5000 miles without any problem until last week.

I went to go home and the car would not start. It would turn over; pop once like it wanted to start but then just crank and crank. I had fuel at the fuel rail so first thing I thought was CPS or the Direct Ignition Cassette. Took the parts off my 2003 and still no start! Thought the fuel pressure might be too low so I swapped the fuel pump which was new and still no start.

After looking at the owners' manual and checking all the fuses I happened to stumble on the security system section in the manual. My security light would flash twice pause flash twice pause. Manual stated it was immobilized, bring to the dealer. I disconnected the battery for several minutes, connected it and the car started right up!

Any ideas what happened? Never had any faults on the SID. I'm puzzled about this.

Hi Guys!

Thanks for the fast replies!

First, should I try disconnecting the battery, reconnecting the breaker to the battery, plugging in the circuit breaker and see if the fault goes away?

Second, what is the failed MOT?

Third....should I just bring it to my local garage to get it scanned?

Money is tight with her, like everyone now a days. Just would like to help her as much as possible.
