Now why didn't I think of doing that?

Perhaps it's on account of when I was born. I didn't grow up with tech savvy mindset.  ;) ;D

sgould, "I couldn't find the A41 site, ...".

Nor could I at first. Perhaps I had more time on my hands to keep plugging away at the search.  ::) ;D

In Google Maps with a bit of zoom in applied, work back from Newport toward Whitchurch and you come upon "Chetwynd Park". Now zoom in some more and still heading toward Whitchurch there now appears "CHETWYND" (referring to an area). Zoom in some more and a little further up the road a marker for "Furniss P" has been revealed. That is where the Saab are. Zooming further in brings them into sight. Setting the Street View Google mannie down there makes the cars clearer to look at.

Regards the topic: perhaps they are taking a leaf out of Nick's book. (TFatC over on UKSaabs.)  ;)  ;D

Yeatus Fajitus,
Any update on this problem?
I hope by now you have been able to solve the mystery.

Around about 1982 I purchased 1977 Toyota 1000 (predecessor to the Starlet) for £450, IIRC.

I had previously bought a 1995 Ford Consul L 2.0 litre which turned out to be a bad buy and I needed something inexpensive as I'd not many pennies left at my disposal.

Coming from the larger car to the little Toyota felt odd at first, but then I began to appreciate the sense of being able to zip about quite easily in the smaller car. Parking was a doddle too. :) It turned out to be a very reliable motor.

Nope! You need a pipe and a pair of slippers!! :)

And a packet of Werther's Originals on the dashboard! :D
Oh, and you need a bunnet. (Flat cap.)  ;) ;D

Slightly off topic. Saab had a developement project which produced the Saab Variable Compression (SVC) engine which produced 225bhp out of 1.6L.

Click the link if you wish to read more about it over at Saab Planet.com

Above is a photo of the dash in my 9-3. The trim is described as Titanuim Finish. It has a satin finish and does not give the reflection sgould spoke of.

The car was first registered end July 2011, is MY 2012 and a 9-3 SE 1.9TTiD [180].

The trim finish is common to the dash, glovebox, door handles and gear knob gaiter surround.

I don't know if those parts are available nor price, but it might be an option to consider.

I bought this one in October and it's fine.

In early December 2013 I purchased a similar fob casing for my 9-3 from this ebay seller (auto_motor_kris). It was as described with soft rubber buttons which felt and functioned as those on the original. I transferred the Saab emblem from the old fob, sticking it on with a spot of Evo-Stik type adhesive. The fob was still doing the job when I sold the car at the end of January 2014.

I've got my Dame Edna booked in with Karl this Saturday to remap to a Stage 1.

Have been disappointed with the performance of the car,  ...
I'm just curious as to why. Have you been used to more powerful cars?

All the best for Saturday. I hope you are pleased with the result of your visit to Karl.

This is very much like the one I purchesed approximately four years ago for my previous 9-3, Fits to SAAB 93 95 9-3 9-5 Replacement Remote Key FOB CASING SHELL + battery. It is from the same eBay seller, "auto_moto_kris". Currently selling for £4.09. March 2017.

The only differences from then: a battery is now supplied, but not a small Saab emblem.

The soft rubber buttons allow for the "click" feel when pressed. I thought this a little firmer than my original, but by no means as stiff as flexing an all plastic case. The curve where the original key blade met the new casing was slightly out, but not by much. Although previously a small Saab emblem was supplied I transferred the original. Carefully lifted it off, cleaned the back and glued it onto the new case.
