I am now Saabless...

I changed my Aero for a Pug 508 SW, which is a very nice and well kitted car. They are definitely worth a test drive, especially the 2.2 HDI GT 200bhp.

The other half has now got a new Ford Kuga AWD....again a very nice car, plenty of torque for every day driving.

I just hope Saab stay afloat so I can get a new one in a few years time! 

All our Saabs have had factory fitted SPA.

SWMBO has an '08 9-3 TID Vector Sport with 84k on the clock.

We bought it nearly 2 years ago with 72K.

Have done timing belt (£200.00) and flywheel/clutch (£580.00).

Also replaced front suspension top mountings as £120 for the pair.

No problems so far with DPF or EGR, however it does chuck out a bit of smoke (only noticeable at night under hard acceleration). Average 38mpg based on 6K pa on short trips.

Hopefully its good for another 50-60k....so it's a keeper.

£30 road tax and 40+ MPG is nice.

Had it for a month now and have to confess that is is a great car and a great alternative to a 9-5 estate. Many people have commented on how much space there is in the front compared to the 9-5.

Very quiet/refined and the interior quality is superb. Love the panoramic roof!

Miss the power of the Aero, but in reality I didn't ever really get to use it properly and in 'normal' every day motoring the 1.6 HDI is not too bad.

Took the decision to move on and let the Aero go after nearly 4 years.

Enjoyed the car very much, however was starting to find the 20 mpg a bit much and didn't really ever get to use the performance.

In the end I decided on a '12 plate Peugeot 508 SW with 20k on the clock. Very impressed so far, very high quality cabin, extremely quiet, £30 pa tax and high 40's mpg.

Definitely recommend for anyone replacing a 9-5 wagon.

SWMBO still has the 9-3.....flywheel being replaced tomorrow, so we will have it for a good while to come.

Just to say thanks for all the 9-5 advice over the last few years.

I'm selling a used DI if anyone is interested.
Bought it a few weeks back from NEO Bros.

Looks like it may have been a poor negative connection on the battery.
If it turns out to be the case I can file all the parts I replaced under 'preventative maintenance' 

There is another grey valve to the LHS of the crankcase which is connected to a pipe that goes into the top of the cobra pipe.

Can anyone tell me what it is for?

Back to intermittent boosting today, especially 2nd gear.

Having a look at mine, there does not seem to be the lower check valve, as there is no 'T' at the cobra pipe, I believe this was done away with in later cars, so the bolt mod would not work.

The upper valve was replaced last year.

Looks like a new solenoid control valve to see what happens.

TBH I think super unleaded in NI is not good as performance petrol cars are scarce.

I have seen many more petrol cars while on holiday this week 

Have had s good blast around the country roads near Bristol this afternoon and all appears well.

Will wait and see what happens.

Maybe the ECU just had some sorting out to do.

The problems got really bad last Saturday after filling with petrol...perhaps a bad dose of petrol didn't help matters !

It will have to wait now for a couple of weeks until I get home 

Mind you the thermostat was sticking and did need replaced.

At least I can rule the other bits and bobs out, even though it did cost £166.00  .

OK......so had the stat, coolant sensor and CPS replaced this morning.

A few miles down the road hesitation again....same old story.

Put in a full tank of shell v power and pulled fuse 17 for luck.

All the way from stone down the M6 and M5 the car was terrible.

No boost when accelerating...would accelerate very slowly with a very light right foot, but press down and the boost guage needle would only go 3/4 into the white area before dropping back to the start of the white area.

After approx 120 miles as if by magic it stared boosting again properly.

No idea what is going on....in fact it was running okay this morning when I left it to the garage, probably as it had not fully warmed up.

Hope its not turbo problems 

Going to Holdcroft (Stoke) tomorrow to have the stat and sensor    replaced.

Drove today from stone to Alton Towers, the temp gauge moving between 3/8 th's and half all the way....however the car behaved pretty well today.

It did rise to 3/8 within a couple of mins, but then sat there for about 15 mins, before rising and dropping again.

I do recall that the temp gauge used normally to sir at halfway and not move.
