Handbrake spring?

My 9-5 failed its MOT for the sake of a broken spring on the nearside handbrake cable (visible from underneath with wheel still on the car, (looking up)- not the springs that act directly on the handbrake shoes).

I'm not sure of what to be seaching for by way of a replacement. It *looks* like the same spring as one of the four that act directly on the handbrake shoes inside the brake disc- can anyone confirm this for sure at all?

Many thanks!

OK, to answer my own question just now, it's NOT the samespring! What do I ask for at the parts counter?

I presume you mean the return spring - part no 42 41 345.

Yes, thanks for that Colly, I've obtained a similar Vectra spring from my Vauxhall dealer (Saab's too far and they weren't much use on the phone either). Spring duly  fitted, and new tyre booked for fitting tomorrow, so the day after that I should have a shiny new MOT!

The 'Car Parts Connexions' website is always well worth a look for Saab parts and accessories - often at greatly reduced prices.  I have just picked up a set of roof bars for my 9-5 estate for £13.75! Luckily we were visiting family very close to where the dealer was so no carriage to pay as well!
