Important thing is to insist on car going to repairer YOU want not the insurers preferred repairer. They can't make you. You might end up with it taking a bit longer as approval process is slower and you may not get the repairers tiny courtesy car, but I think this is pretty much true if every insurer.

Exactly. They try to bully people into going along with their approved repairer, but you can assert your right to an alternative, although they may well ask for quotes and refuse to pay the difference between theirs and yours.
