hi all
finally got around to looking at this problem. advice and research siad it is contact spring as the warning light comes on when i turn corners.
got my haynes out and unscrewed the air bag unit from the steering wheel. so far so good.
haynes then says unplug the wires.
now for the silly question.
How do they unplug. there are two funny conections in the middle of the air bag unit. i can not for the life of me work out how they dissconect.
help please

There is a locking catch on the back of each connector, they lift up with a screwdriver then the connector pulls straight off the airbag. What year is your car? There's a very good chance if it's an 06/07 that it's not the contact spring and is the wiring from the spring into the airbags and steering wheel buttons.

hi it a 52 areo
the conector has a grey plastic loop on the back of it. i have tried pulling it but nothing happens
cheers

Once that part of the connector is out then the rest of the connector should just pull out. Please don't take this the wrong way but In all honesty if you're having trouble doing this I'd suggest that maybe you should get someone who is experienced working with airbag systems to do this as the potential here for damaging the wiring and creating new problems is quite high.

no offence taken and you are probably right
