Hi everyone. Great new forum and my first post here.

Does anyone know if it is possible to swap a CIM (with keys if needed) from one car to another?

Thanks in advance!

Yes you can, you'll need Tech-2 and security access. You should do a remove on Tech-2 on the donor car and a remove on the car the unit is going into before adding the new unit. Be careful as you don't want to end up deprogramming all the keys or similar when doing this ;D

Thanks for the reply.
The problem is that the car the donor cim is going into won't start or even let you turn the ignition on. I don't think it's going to be possible to remove the old cim to program the donor one.
Will I also need the remotes from the donor car to program the donor cim? This isn't a problem just need to make sure I have everything at hand.
Thanks

You can force the ignition key to release with Tech-2, in fact, I'd want to hook a Tech-2 up to the car and find out the reason it's blocking the ignition key. You should be able to tell the car which unit to take keys from when you add the replacement cim, there is a backup of the keys stored in the engine ecu along with the cim. When you replace the unit you can either copy across the key data from the engine ecu or overwrite it with data from the donor cim or program up an entirely new set of keys. You will need security access on Tech-2 to do this.

The transponder in the key is faulty and as I only have that key. The only option I think is to replace the cim and key.
There is also a problem with an error message that is coming up with the security access that needs to be sorted first.
