Hi all,
I own a 2005 saab 93, Im just toying with the idea of installing a double din multimedia player.  Ive been browsing the site and others and can find anything that shows an install for my model.

I have a climate control unit and two seperate radio units, the cd player and the radio controls.

Any ideas what the best installation would be parts etc.

cheers again guys sites a big help

You won't find one because it's nigh on impossible to do!

The panel you see, with the audio controls on, is not the radio and you can't remove it from the car because it does other things besides controlling the audio.

The main audio unit is behind the aircon panel with the CD player hanging from it.  It's connected to the control panel by fibre optics, not wires.

It might be possible to do some things, but if the audio is disconnected, you will lose thins like indicator clicks and the info on the SID on top of the dash.  See attachment for the details.

As  already said you can't do it, but.......In my old 9-5 when the CD player finally gave up I installed a dvd player, but I had to basically create its own wiring loom, speaker wires and separate parcel shelve speakers for it. Wired it through the accesories switch on the ignition and job's a good'un (well a bit of a bodge really).

I have seen it done by an American, he changed/modified all his dash putting the climate controls at the top if I remember right and fitted a double din at the bottom. Looked like a load of messing about but all credit to him for having a go  8) I'll see if I can find a link
