The toy car has a couple of old Pirelli's on the back and some mysterious budget things on the front. I intend to change them for something better when the Pirelli's go below legal and funds permit. Any recommendations for inexpensive boots? At the moment I'm thinking Falken ZE912's like wot I have on the 95 but all ideas welcome.

When I thought I was going to be out of work in a few months, I bought High Performer HS-2s for my 9-5 from Mytyres. They're okay, not exceptional grip but not terrible, not quiet but not horrendous, and at £53 a corner (225/45/17XL) reasonably cheap. I don't think I'd get them again unless the work situation dicatated it, but they've lasted well.

I've just put ZE912s on my 9-5 and have been astounded at the improvement in comfort and ride quality compared to any other tyre that I've fitted and that includes:

FK452
Toyo Proxes
Goodyear Assymetric
Pirelli PZero Nero

They are more comfortable than my winter wheels which are 17 not 18.

Downside: steering response is noticably poorer. I shall try putting a few more PSI in...

I had no luck with Pirelli on my GM900 and 9-3. They just refused to hold grip in hot weather and when pushed. I now use Continental.
When the GM900 first came out, Michelin were the preferred choice from what I can remember. If you are cost conscious, then find someone with a Costco card. They do Michelin at silly prices that even my local tyre dealer can't match.
