Anyone have any experience of them? I've relocated to the area and although I like Ian @ Saabtech Welwyn to work on the car - he's done so for years - it would be good to know if I have local options. ISTR that they have a good reputation, well-known eBay site etc. Any recommendations re particular mechanics would be especially welcome.

I have used this map of recommended Saab specialists.  It was drawn up by Chris Ivory, a Saab enthusiast in the Bristol area.

A great friend of mine uses the specialist in Milton Keynes. Another uses Indy Saab in Rushden.

Thanks Will. That throws up Swedish Car Connection in Cambridge who look pretty good. So that's very helpful, obliged.

I'm in Cambridge and now take my car to Indy Saab in Rushden, make of that what you will about local options in Cambridge however I will say that I have never used Swedish Car Connection so would like feedback about them.

Thanks Audax. Hmmm ...

I'm planning to scope out Swedish Car Connection tomorrow morning (rather than just 'phoning). I assume that my car (see thread in Classic 9-5 re wet carpets) is going to need to stay at a dealer with the trim lifted in order to dry out, even if the cause is a quick fix.

Funnily enough I had someone collar me in Morrisons car park today as he saw my 9-3 Aero while he sat in his NG9-5 and was asking me where to take it locally... His poor NG9-5 had really rusty sills just in front of the rear wheels and a very rusty front wing! At first I thought it had a bad accident repair but it was both sides. I told him to take it to indysaab though as they'd know a good bodyshop for certain.

It seems he NG 9-5's are suffering from some rust issues, I wonder if he has had a look at the inner wings - front & rear, on a sample of one, they seem more susceptible than I expected from a newer design & materials

I have the rusty dog-leg issue on my 04 9-5. It got through the MOT last year (April) but Ian @ Saabtech warned that I would probably be looking at some attention to and welding of that and some 'scabs' underneath the car this year.
