Remote Boot Locking

Hi Guys,

I have a 2001 93 convertible and the boot remote release button ( in the door ), does not operate. If I push the button, I can hear
a very faint click coming from the forward passenger side. I have removed the boot trim and everything seems to be
connected and in good condition in that area.

Also the boot will not unlock from the remote key.

Is there a relay I should check or do you think it's still a switch related problem?

Thanks.

It seems you have a problem anyway but u know the door switch won't work with the roof down unless the ignition is on or by the key if its off.
There's a solenoid in the tailgate that might be faulty. If not it could be the twice unit under the passenger seat that's got a problem. To test the button on the key turn the ignition on then press it.
If its working the Sid will display how many keys and remotes are programmed to the twice unit.

Dear Hawkwind,

Did you ever resolve your problem?  I have the exact same problem.  Garage diagnosed a boot actuator, replaced it with a secondhand one but still no joy so they gave up, saying you can open it with the key; which is true but a nuisance as of course the key is often in the ignition.

Welcome! :)

I don't know the convertible, but I wonder if it suffers from frayed and broken wires in the flexy section between the body and the boot lid.  Assuming there is one...

It's a common problem on the 9-5 saloon.

Sorry for the delay in replying.

Unfortunately no, the problem still persists, if there is any joy I will up-date.

Having looked at all the wiring, everything looks to be in perfect condition behind the boot lid lining.
