thinking of repaying my aero wheels anthracite grey. the car is black will it look anygood? plus dont want to depricate the price of the car to much.

tell me your thoughts....

Don't know really they look good on light cars but on black? I'd put a pic of my car into microsoft paint then recolour the wheels and post a pic to see what people think, or if you have an iphone the apps to do things like this are endless  ;)

I think it's a matter of personal preference - it's not often I see anthracite wheels on any car and think to myself 'WOW'

Sometimes, depending on the wheel and the car, colour coded wheels look pretty good. My choice would be to stick with silver, but that's just me.

I'm trying to determine in my own mind why exactly, I'm not keen on anthracite, and I think it's because I associate dark coloured wheels as silver ones that have got really dirty!  ::) ;D

First time for me was on Volvo 850's and they looked awesome!

Painting wheels black make tyres look more grey.

You'll find yourself getting through an awful lot of 'tyre blackener'!

That said, I agree, it looks ace.
Rather than painting, have you considered powder coating? It's far more resiliant to tyre changes and winter.

I got quoted 40 pound a wheel, does that sound to cheap.?

If anyone's a dab hand with photoshop please please could they show me what my car would look like with grey or black wheels!!!!!

Here it is.

Was that £40 per wheel a total strip and repaint? I think I paid that at Lepsons in Swindon, so for £40 I would be expecting only the best job!

Incidentally when I got my wheels back I have to say I have never had such a well balanced set. Lepsons were cheaper too than my local tyre fitter for the tyre that I wanted

Ideally wheels should be powder coated, not repainted for maximum durability. You also want the refurbishers to fit your tyres- that way if there's any damage there's no question as to who sorts it.

I've used BJV Engineering for a couple of sets now and they are very good and competitive.

Here's my stab at your car with anthracite wheels:

Thanks alot for that i think the anthracite looks better than the black. Just up to me to decide if its worth  doing or i should just leave them silver, just want the car to look a bit different ..

Actually I was downtown Manama a few days ago and there was a huge American thing, bright red with satin black wheels that had a matching red line down the spokes, and I have to say I thought they looked pretty good - but, the car itself was immaculate and the tyres kept black. Had the car been dirty (often the case here in the Gulf) or the tyres not got black dressing on them it would have looked a bit ropey in my opinion

Just had the "Viking" wheels on my black 9-3 Coupe refinished by Pristine in anthracite.

I think that they look great (& it was a first class job)...but then it did cost the thick end of £100 per wheel (inc. dismounting, removing tyres, replacing, new valves & balancing).

Best, B
