um,im no expert but have been driving saabs for 25years and that is in my humble opinion OVERPRICED.the guy must be having a laugh, you can get an 06 aero for that sort of money.in my opinion i would stay well clear and for that car you are looking at 2,500 tops,as the market has bottomed out.once again that is my opinion and i hope this helps

Yes, too expensive.  The Arc model was the "comfy" spec.  Small wheels etc.

It has got the trademark light wood dashboard.  But otherwise fairly basic with no park assist. No Xenons. No heated seats.....

It would be unusual to find an Arc without heated seats or other extras, most of them have quite a few options fitted. That car is overpriced but then, it's a diesel with low mileage, there are plenty of people out there who won't consider a car with more miles on and of course there is this whole mindset that diesels are much cheaper to run hence the reasons for the high pricing.

This one went for £1700, and although only a Linear, was a 04 reg...

Quinophex is right, in my opinion, the price is because it's a low mileage diesel estate. As it's a dealer he's asking a premium. On the private market it would probably be on the market for something around £3500-3995. This is all assuming it's in excellent condition.

The ebay price for a diesel estate with nearly double the mileage is very good value indeed. I still find it surprising that more people haven't cottoned onto the fact that Saab's are excellent value for money second hand. Especially when compared to Volvo's, Audi's, BMW's, etc and even many of the Japanese manufacturers.

You guys have NO idea how cheap your cars are up there. Triple ( at least ) what you are paying and you come close.

If you like the car, just pay the money!

Audax

I'm well aware of how cheap our cars compared to the rest of the world, it's why we get rid of perfectly good cars for relatively minor problems and many get scrapped when there's an MOT with a couple of small job and a service which requires some brakes and tyres and the bill gets towards £1000 and the customer says "the cars not worth that" even though the car is mint and just needs maintenance. When I scrapped my 1993 9000 my uncle in Tazzie had just bought himself a 1992 non-turbo 9000 for the equivalent of £3000 and a few years back, around the same time we were thinking of moving from the UK to Sweden and looking at equivalent cars there were about £2000... and there I was scrapping the thing!

This car is still for sale at the same dealer - they've knocked a couple of hundred off but still hasn't shifted it I feel a bit mischevous and may ring him up and say -

Me: "Back in July I looked at  9-5 estate, don't suppose you have something similar?

Sales "Yes Sir we have an ARC"

Me: "Oh my thats the one I told you was overpriced 4 months ago!" Bye!

Very expensive - my car is for sale for only £800 more, and mine is a 08 plate 1.9TiD!

I work in Sheffield and go through Chesterfield on the way home - let me know if you fancy looking at my car  ;) ;D

I reckon at least a grand too much, based on my experience looking for (and buying) an 05 2.2 Vector. What is the difference between the Arc and the Vector anyway?

But you're not a dealer so don't offer a warranty and some people will not buy or sell privately.  ;)

I know what you mean, but a 03 reg from a dealer for £4495 vs an 08 reg privately for £750 more. No brainer for me - though I have the advantage of knowing the car is fine and all faults are listed. Mine does have a transferable warranty until March 2012, though didn't bother mentioning it as I'm not sure if the remap will invalidate it.. I think mine's getting to the point now where it's that cheap that people are going to think something's wrong with it. No-one is interested at higher prices though, so can't win.

As to the original point - I went to see a 04 plate 2.2TiD Auto Linear Estate that was on Ebay (Saab Specialist) - that went for £1700 about 3 months ago.. Car was fine - needed some money spending on bushes etc, though not £2800 worth!
