Gear Knob

Saab 9-3 , just had work done which required the gear knob to be removed,since then it keeps on working lose and the spring underneath the knob ejects it off the gear lever,I've tried siliconing it down and tapping it down harder but it still works itself lose.
Any ideas,

I'm pretty sure that it needs gluing back on.  WIS mentions Loctite 270.

Read in various places people are using nothing more than aluminium foil wrapped around the top of the gear stalk then tap the gear-knob back on - apparently an effective fix

Didn't want to use anything like superglue in case it had to be removed again in the future.
