Engine management

Driving along the M1 this evening the engine management light came on

Car drives perfectly, no loss in power

Any ideas what could be the cause?

I stopped and refuelled for 5 mins but the light stayed on when I restarted the car

I'd really say all you can do is get the codes read. You can get a code reader cheap enough now that it's something I'd have and stick in the boot.

I've got one but with it being so dark and chucking it down with rain I'll check it tomorrow

Can't be anything major otherwise I think the car would have been rough

Put the code reader on just now

1 fault stored but no code

Also the engine management light went out last night when my missus used the car

I've cleared the fault and will see if it reappears in the next week
