I'm currently working on a 107, for which water ingress is a similar feature. ...

As is my wife's VW Up. Paddling pool in the driver side footwell.
As for the silica pouches, I leave them on a radiator in the kitchen.  They dry out better than in the microwave.

For those of you that have X, you may find this amusing. By coincidence it's a 107, and has just got another years MOT.  ;D

Happy New Year from me too.
It's over 11 years since I sold my 9-5, but I stay on STT in admiration of you all who have the fortitude to keep your cars running. Good luck for 2026.

I've just notice I repeated myself, nothing but praise. No AI was involved in creating that post, all my own ineptitude!

Oh lord really? My 9-5 is on its last legs and I have been eyeing a V90 as a kind of sibling. But I don't want keeping my next car on the road to be the project that this has been.

Hi Tom,
I'm so glad my days of worrying what will be the next thing to go wrong are behind me after around 200,000 miles across my 9-5 and a previous Citroen Xantia, (admittedly I might be tempting fate with my Audi A4 Avant) but maybe it's worth a look at a Skoda Superb estate?  Obviously I don't know what your budget is, but having had two Octavias then a Karoq, and several friends also have nothing but praise for various Skodas, I have nothing but praise for the brand. (No connection other than as a customer.)

Meanwhile, compliments of the season to everyone.

My local independent garage, with eight service bays always busy, I've been using them since last century for routine (and sometimes not so routine) servicing, changed their name a good while back from "Port Tyres & Exhausts" to just "Port Tyres". Chatting with the owner last month he said they average barely one exhaust job a month these days.

Hozelock - the garden hose people - do a treatment for water butts.  Comes in a 500ml bottle with built-in dose measure. Might be worth a look at?

That's a bit worrying :(   Maybe best avoided...

Is this any better?

That's life. Then it's on to the external temperature sensor and the brake lights. No peace for the wicked, time to sell up and buy a Skoda ...

I've had three Skodas and latterly an Audi (all with previous owners) since I said goodbye to my 9-5, which I've just realised was ten years ago in August. How time flies. I've had an awful lot of peace of mind since then, I must admit.

That was the earlier 9-3, 2001 and earlier

Cheers Audax.

Hi Audax, I recall some years ago there were posts about the bulkhead in the convertible. Do you know if that was still an issue near the end of production, or was it the previous 9-3, 1998-2003?

Is it the black one on Autotrader in Blandford Forum, at £4575? Car owned by mum and dad? Looks nice in the photos, but obviously that's only part of the story.   Good luck!
