I found that the T-bolt is virtually the same as on some BMWs:

Apparently the part number for BMW E46 for negative lead with that T-bolt is 61128373946 and costs about $22.75 which makes it much cheaper than saab cable, even from breakers. The cable obviously won't do but the t-bolt is a perfect match. There are rumours that it's even cheaper than that - $13. Well there is a chance it's going to be about £20 in the UK then...

This was roughly what my temporary fix looked like:

Just found it's also used on VWs and Audis:

VW/Audi part number: 6X0-915-138 or 6X0915138

Crasher at http://www.volkswagenforum.co.uk :
"There are two lengths of clamping piece, 19-mm which is 3A0 915 138 and 22-mm which is 6X0 915 138, both are about £2 from any VW main dealer. You will also need washer N 011 557 8 and nut N 011 006 27."

3A0 part does NOT fit the saab as the base of the t-bolt is too big/tight, 6X0 should fit perfectly.

Now, I earned a PhD in T-bolts!
