Changing out the turn signal/cruise control switch

I need to change the indicator/cruise control lever in my 1996 9000 sedan. I have a replacement, salvaged from a wrecked 1995 9000.
I believe that the rectangular box around the steering column that houses this lever, plus the headlight control lever, has to be removed to gain access to where the base of the unit is secured.
There appears to be 3 screws or fasteners that have to be removed from the underside of this "box," so it can be split, but they are in a very awkward position for me to see what they are.
My tired old eyes and multifocal lenses just cannot get into a position where I can focus in on them.
Can anyone please tell me just what they are, Torx? Phillips Head? and what size?
Also are there 2 or 3?

They are 6 pt torx, the torx driver in the tool kit with a flat blade driver on the other end fits.    I seem to have 4 screws in my cars but its a long time since I removed the cowling.   Definately the centre and deep ones to each side, not sure about the odd 4th one on one side.

I'll go with alang on this one.  Fairly straightforward though you need to be careful not to crack the cowling.  It can be a bit of a fiddle to get off and on.  The wiring connectors are quite tight, and, if I remember correctly need a little screwdriver to unclip the ends to allow them to be removed.  Just a couple of Torx screws hold the lever in place.
