Pot Hole Damage
« on: 03 April 2013, 06:50:04 PM »
Hi All,

I think the old gals suffered some pothole damage. I get a knock whenever R/H front wheel hits a bump. All looks OK and tight. Suspension bounces and settles perfect and still handles as normal. Any pointers on where to look more closely.

thanks

steve

Anti roll bar drop links.

You will need to jack the car up and let the suspension hand to see if the joints are starting to get loose.

I had the same noise on my Aero, no obvious ware but once removed it could be clearly seen.

Hi All,

Well after 5 hours of painful spannering ive replaced my droplinks with uprated ones from PFS. Has cured knocking and handling seems much sharper, with less roll, which for a griffin isnt a bad thing. Tyre rotation also done now its time to get polishing. Thanks for your pointer Steve, n/s had excessive wear in top and o/s half of the insert was gone. Both top gaiters shot.  Oddly the bottom joints and gaiters on both sides were OK.

I had standard ones fitted to replace mine.  The handling was improved with those.  I expect it's just the rubber bushes that do that.
