Sacrilege?
« on: 17 August 2012, 03:31:45 PM »
I have got the chance of getting a nice interior, for not much cash, from a '00 9-5 Griffin.

The car's mostly dead, but my Indy's given me a good offer for the seats, doors cards etc.

They're in very good condition, near as damn it the same colour as mine, but are heated and ventilated, heated rear too, as mine has.

Is it a worthwhile swap for an Aero interior?

Had a sit in them this morning and the seem a softer leather than the Aero, comfortable like an armchair and not as 'grippy' as the Aero's with it's pronounced side and cushion bolsters.

Would be an interesting combo, an Aero with a Griffin interior, parked next to my Carlsson with a 9k Aero interior.

(I still think the 9k seats are more comfortable than the 9-5 Aero seats)

Hi,
I find the Griffin seats very very comfortable but if you drive spirited around the lanes they dont hold you in place as well as the Aero seats do.
Have you all the wiring in place for vented and heated seats? Will you be fitting the Wooden Steering wheel and kerbside tilting n/s mirror for parking?

I think the wheel will jar with the metal fascia, also hasn't got flappy paddles. Already got the dipping mirror, dimming and folding too, haven't a clue how it works though.

Hi,
I agree , Wheels worth selling on the bay tho. Was very expensive option. To make mirror dip when parking I have a tiny button on Mirror control switch which you press when in reverse. Not sure about your model though. I wonder if you could fit the heating pads and motors etc from Griffin seats into the Aero ones. Must admit vented seats very nice in current climate.

Aero seats are already heated and electric, the Griffin ones are the same but with the built in vent fans and perforated leather.

Could fit the fans, I suppose, but the breeze would have nowhere to go on a standard Aero seat.....some perf/vented Aeros would be ideal, but how common are they?

Stupidly rare for ventilated Aero seats, I've seen no more than 1 or 2 equipped with them. Rarer than a Griffin and they're already pretty uncommon!

My Aero has them and in the current 30+° that we're enjoying here in Austria they've been on most of the time!

Doesn't make them any less rare ;D Out of the 60 or so Aero's on ebay at the moment only 1 appears to have them fitted although not all cars have interior shots.

Mine are ventilated too. :)

But being 100% black leather, I have to keep them covered in a towel in hot sunny weather.  It takes time for them to cool down.

My first one had black seats Will. I used to start engine, switch fans on and shut door for a few moments and all then cooled down.

I liked giving people a shock by switching them on and not telling them. They had that same embarrassed look on their face that you get with first timers to heated seats  ;D

It would be interesting to know what you paid. Thx.

£100, for front vented/heated electric, back (heated) and door cards and switches.

Cheaper than the £450 I paid for my first 9K Aero interior (no door cards), AND the £140 I paid for the second (with door cards).

Still have a plain grey leather electric 9K and Carlsson (replaced with the 2nd Aero as it was in FAR to good a condition to use) 9K in my garage.
