Regardless of price, I take the view that if something looks too good to be true, then...

I agree but they say it an introduction price hence the reason for asking if anybody has tried one.

I can't see how it works myself. The original map is already pretty optimised for fuel economy. The only way it might be improved is by leaning out the mix- dangerous on a turbo car. There are minor tweaks that can be done with the map but nothing major IMO.

Might be worth asking them for independent test data to verify their claims...

I'd suggest it's not going to work, I'm pretty certain you can't have live remaps like that on the 9000 via the OBD port and coming to think of it I don't think you can do it on the 9-5 either, that these magic boxes work with so many different makes and model of car in their listings? Have they really got a facility to test these maps on all those cars in the real world and monitor performance?

They're also taking advantage of free shipping and returns on ebay, if you offer this you can pretty much force someone to use this as the returns process and if this returns process is used then the buyer can't leave negative feedback so the feedback figures are not relevant here. There's also a few positive feedbacks that state that the box didn't work for them...

Even if the boxes do work it will be via some changing of some OBD parameters (not unlike tuning options such as adding a resistor into the loom for the IAT!) and it won't have been properly tested for your car. Given that I'd not risk it, I'd look at t7suite and the bits to DIY, find someone who does t7suite tuning or buy an upgrade from Hirsch/Maptun/BSR/Abbot who at least have tested their firmwares on real cars.

I'd be fascinated if it worked as stated by using the OBD2 port on all the cars listed, some of which are not OBD2 compliant.
