9-5 1.9TiD - P2200 NOx Sensor Circuit
« on: 11 July 2013, 12:04:08 PM »
I'm getting this error code. Car driving fine - no problems. Anyone know if this means it's reading out of range, or does it meant that the circuit itself is faulty?

can you point me to where the sensor is? Is it "engine end" or at the cat/dpf?

Thanks in advance!

J

Hmmnn, P2200 isn't listed in my copy of WIS, are you 100% certain that is the code?

The sensor will be somewhere around the CAT or DPF, at this point I'd be wanting verification with a Tech-II ;)

Has the car had any software fettled at any point to do with EGR or DPF?

Yes - dpf removed and all fine until recently. I've picked up another code - P22B8....any ideas. What I'm not sure of is whether this code is one the system is now told to ignore and I've actually got something else wrong that the reader doesn't recognise....I've had a new water in fuel sensor fitted and I'm wondering if its really the problem but I've not got a good enough reader to get the code.....

Should go back to driving a beetle.....

Err, P22B8? codes are a letter followed by a 4 digit number, not a mix of numbers and letters... So I take it the people who did the DPF removal also reprogrammed the ECU? In which case I'd be speaking to them as these codes are not Saab codes so maybe they've programmed an ECU with settings for another car?

Wait, you mean there's no check engine light but there's a fault code stored?

Anyhow, did they reprogram the ecu when removing the dpf? If so I'd say they have software from another car make/model that is causing the fault code to appear.

Audax - the whole story is:

I have had lots of problems with the DPF on my car despite doing mainly motorway miles. I think because I drive sensibly at about 75 so never generated enough "heat" for re-gens. After a lot of deliberation and worrying, I got a DPF removal and EGR delete from Angel Tuning with reprogramming to manage the change. They seemed to be getting a lot of good write ups on various forums and a lot of experience of the SAAB/Fiat/Alfa engine. Got it done by their man in Scotland rather than the main location in Oxford. Unfortunately he's away on holiday an Oxford is a long way....

All went well - DPF off, bit better fuel consumption and a bit better low rev response. Got it done in April. I've done about 7K mile since (87k on the clock).

About a month later I bought a cheap code reader just to have! Stuck it on to our two cars (we have a 2006 2.3t auto too) and it showed the P2200 code but no light. Didn't worry about it.

A week or so ago, local garage removed my "water in fuel" sensor that had got damaged. CEL came on, but no additional codes on my reader (still got the P2200). Then got a new fuel sensor fitted and light went out, but only for a day. It came back on but still only one code on my reader (and the local garage's one) showing P2200. When I set my cheap code reader to  "SAAB" it reads the P22B8 code that makes no sense.

Now don't know if problem is the P2200 putting light on (or is it doing nothing), do I still have a problem with the water in fuel sensor (but I can't read the error with my code?) or do I have another problem? Probably need to pay the money to go on a Tech II.

All that said, car is running very well, and consumption good!! Getting about 48mpg brim to brim.

Oh, and off to France on holiday in a few days so not keen I have a breakdown.....

If the garage clear the codes then does the light go out? I'd get it on Tech-II and see what that says, if that also says P2200 with no further diagnostics I'd be speaking to the people who did the DPF delete.

It's my reader.....

Got someone with a decent reader who came along, and bizarrely when they ran a scan, the light disappeared (he hadn't tried to reset it!) and there were no faults. My reader still says P2200........

I'm guessing that the reason for the light was an old record of the faulty fuel sensor, and the P2200 I'm getting is phantom. Looks like my reader is for the bin - or perhaps will be OK for the petrol car.

Unless of course it comes on again tomorrow................. :)

Thanks for your help and bearing with the nonsense I've been posting.

So, code I was getting before was rubbish. Apparently a useless code reader. Correct code is p1901 - exhaust gas pressure sensor malfunction.

DPF removed so probably route cause. Is the sensor part of the dpf section? If so, this explains it as its removed....

Thanks!

Yeah, that's the code for the sensors that measure when the DPF is full, suggests that the delete didn't remove everything from the software.
