Well I know have my car back and what a difference. The car has never been as good as this since I bought it 18 months ago.
What they have done is remove the DPF and enlarge the holes inside that normally trap the soot and replace on car so it still reads a pressure in there. They then re-map the car to get sensors to accept pressures etc (or something like that). This is normally done through the diagnostic port but he said 1 in 5 Saab's won't allow them in - yep mine was one of them but he had a solution..................still for the same money he would take out the ECU and re-map in on the bench under lab conditions but he needed a special probe and that would take a couple of days to get so no car since Thursday eve. He was aware of the Hirsch map as well and would take that into account.
What they have done is truly fab as instead of the Hirsch 175 hp and 350 nm I now have their economy map which is 180hp and 368 nm. They also do performance map of 190hp and 400 nm.
My auto box seems to also respond better than before and the power seems even smoother than the Hirsch - so I am well happy and just a shame I ended up spending so much on replacing other stuff - lets hope all keep well or the car will definitely be going.
They have also confirmed they are aware of possible future MOT changes on DPF's and mine should cause no problem - lifetime warranty on map as well.
