MOT success
« on: 25 July 2019, 02:22:41 PM »
It's always a nervous time of the year, when you put your old car in for MOT. You never know what they are going to find, and how much it might be to put right.

However, I left Jet (56 plate 2.0T Aero saloon, in black, for those who don't remember, or even care :D ) with the mechanic this morning, to take in for MOT.

There was no word from him at all, so I texted the boss (the missus, for those of you that can appreciate the situation :D ) just now, for her to tell me it's passed first time!!! Whaheyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!

I won't see the cert for advisories till I get home, but given that there were only two advisories last year (rear brakes and tyres) both of which I had sorted, and then had not done many miles since, I was hoping all would be well!! And it was!!!

Add to that, that it was the second of our cars booked in for MOT this week, 2 passes is great news :D

That's good news - my MOT month is November, just by coincidence not planning and I go through a similar process of wondering if I will have wheels by the end of the month  ;D

Had a couple of advisories, so it wasn't a clean sweep. My number plates are faded (in fact the front one is also cracked but he never mentioned that), and apparently there is a very slight oil leak, but he didn't say where from!!!

Its difficult to get to and probably the worse case scenario - mine cost me about £800 to fix and that was cheap - I seem to recall the transmission was in the way of the repair. It is a known fault on the 2.0L with high mileage. Doesn't sound like your leak is too bad and it could equally be other things.

£800  :o

My car only has around 97,000 miles on it........ hope it isn't that then.

The MOT tester didn't specify where the leak was.

It's probably a bit late to ask he MOT guy now, so you'll need to get her up in the air and have a nosey around.

I sugges you make an investment in a Wurth brake cleaner spray bottle & fluid. Around £32 on ebay from SG Petch in Middlesborough, but dead usefull.
