I got two new rear tyres at Costco last week. After fitting, the right rear pressure monitoring valve was unresponsive. On the eSID it was showing a pressure of zero and a tyre temperature of -50°C.
Last year at the Saab Museum Festival, I bought a set of monitors at the factory sale. So I took the car to Joe’s on Friday to get the faulty one replaced. After fitting, the right rear sensor worked correctly, but the left rear tyre now showed a fail, so that was changed that as well, and Joe did the 20 min test drive etc. But the fault alert remained, and a fault now showed on the left front as well. Time was running out, so we decided to leave the faults and I took the car away and drove home.
The left front alert cleared before I got to the M25, but the rear right alert remained. eSID was showing a plausible temperature but zero pressure, so it was being recognised by the system. The alert remained all weekend. On Monday I got a lift to the station in the morning, and was collected in the late afternoon. On the way home, the rear alert suddenly went out. eSID is showing plausible pressure and temperature on all four wheels. So it looks as if it’s fixed. The automatic learning process is not as simple or straightforward as described in the WIS.
