Driver Window Fault, Not Center Switches

I have a '97 Aero which currently has the problem whereby the driver side window will not operate.

When I got in the car at lunch I pushed driver and passenger switches at the same time to let some cooler air in.
The passenger side worked fine, but the driver side just jinked downward very slightly and now won't work at all.

After lunch I tried again and once more the passenger side worked fine and the driver side just jinked downward very slightly.
I now have a 1inch gap in the driver window which I can't do anything about.

I have taken out the centre console switch bank and cleaned the contacts (also tried swapping a few from the rear swiches etc). Everything still works fine except the driver window.

Are there any other obvious things I should look for when I take the door trim off later?

Don't be so sure it is Not the switches. Test the Winder motor by applying 12v to it's motor.  I've often surprised my self with this test.... After having  cleaned adjusted the switch pack.
