I think that the WIS has changed the method for changing fluid.  It doesn't use the drain plug, it calls for a hose to the cooler to be dropped off.  So maybe it changes more of the fluid now.

The WIS still shows the 90,000 mile fluid change that I remember from the 2002 model.  But for my 2007 car - with what is essentially the same gearbox the change period is listed as 72,000 miles.  Odd.

Hmmm .. but changing it more frequently will it have any benefits or just a waste of money??

;D haha quality ... I just find it so annoying, like a fly in the ointment not to mention the oil is 60 quid a go so Im not so keen to lose a drop

I can appreciate that but.... how much oil could you buy to replace the very very small amount (think like 50ml between oil changes at most!) you lose for the cost/time/effort of doing a head gasket?  :P

;)

Yeah dont mind me its just the OCD   :o

In all honesty, I wouldn't bother trying to chase down oil leaks on a 9-5 engine (unless they're really bad!), as soon as you fix one leak you'll just find another.

You could try re-torquing the head bolts and you can try Trenchfoot's suggestion, but taking the head off for an insignificant oil leak? I really can't see the point.

Think of it as an advanced engine and chassis corrosion protection system.  8)

Yeah I was thinking more for the new unit I plan on putting in, be easier to do it whilst the engine is out type of thing.

TBH I have had a look at engine thats leaking now and I cant really see were its coming from.

Was told its from one corner of the head gasket and that its a common problem on these ... any one know of a remedy, I thinking of getting a new unit off Neo Bros is it worth me getting the head cracked and putting in a different head gasket.

Engine leaking oil is a pet hate of mine no matter how small the leak  >:(

I got my last one at eurocarparts a lot cheaper than Halfords with guarantee.

Thank you kindly Sir .. I just saved myself 30 quid on the battery I wanted by not buying from Halfords

Halfords do one that has a 4 year warranty.

Keep the receipt in a plastic bag under the battery so if it fails you dont spend 3 weeks looking for it.

Steve

thats some good advice right there .. Im bound to lose it!

Thanks folks

Ok folks a little update on this, so I emailed the company and they can supply plain disks so thats good and also they ship in a plain box as to not attract customs so fingers crossed on that front .. so some fears allayed for me.

Do I go slotted or plain disks????   the kit comes with race pads but Im unsure if they are non gassing or not, if i get plain disks and the pads gas what will happen, will I lose braking grip?? I suppose I could always buy the DS2500 if there was a major problem.

Nah I appreciate the feedback ... tbh I will probably take the risk as to get the AP kit at same size is 2k compared to 1400 ... all of Brembo`s disks seem to be drilled??   The PB`s have a good write up and I will stick to the grooved disks only with the floating.

I hear ya on the Hirsh 4 pots they feel poor to be fair .. although I shouldnt be saying that as I will be trying to flog em  :P

I'm not near my data, but I think the whole box takes 7 litres,  but you will have some in there, and you need to fit it and fill it to the hot mark.  If it was full when it left the reconditioner, how much have you lost on the way?

Probably around half a litre

So Im still on about these lulz ... I have decided to go with a make called Phat Boy manufacturing out of Taiwan they seem to have a good rep the kit looks good and its at a good price.

So my question ... I was thinking of going for the 8 pot calipers with 360 disks .. they will fit under 18inch alloys but would I get more braking performance out of say the six pot or even four pot calipers as the pistons are bigger or should I def go for the 8 pot??
