Hard to say, it could be between the layers, I can only see where the water leaks out on the move, not where it gathers.

Hi there everyone!

Not been around for a while, the 93 convertable has been running like a Swiss watch  (touch wood).

Problem has started with the torrential rain recently.

There is a leak, but not a drip-drip type leak. The car remains dry until I drive off (when parked over night), then water that has accumulated in the roof pours out drenching the passenger    The rest of the time everything remains snug and dry, I've driven through some awful weather with no signs of a leak, this only happens if the car has been parked for several hours in heavy rain.

I was wondering are there some drainage channels which may have become blocked?

I don't know the convertible, but I wonder if it suffers from frayed and broken wires in the flexy section between the body and the boot lid.  Assuming there is one...

It's a common problem on the 9-5 saloon.

Having looked at all the wiring, everything looks to be in perfect condition behind the boot lid lining.

Hi Guys,

I have a 2001 93 convertible and the boot remote release button ( in the door ), does not operate. If I push the button, I can hear
a very faint click coming from the forward passenger side. I have removed the boot trim and everything seems to be
connected and in good condition in that area.

Also the boot will not unlock from the remote key.

Is there a relay I should check or do you think it's still a switch related problem?

Had the same symptoms on mine, switch appeared to be fine but I took it apart anyway, had a fiddle, re-installed
and it worked partially.

Took it apart again and this time I cleaned up all the little contacts in the rubber switch mount until they were bright metal and it now functions normally.

Give it a go, you've got nothing to loose if they're not working.

Yes I find it odd that quotes with the same companies will change from day to day, even though all the details remain the same.

Glad you got a good result in the end though.

Finally got to take a look at the electric mirrors today, turns out it was the switch.

Took it apart and cleaned it with contact cleaner. There's a sort of rubber diaphragm inside that holds the contacts.
Cleaned them up so they were nice and bright and put it all back together, plugged it in and it works!

The band looks as though it belongs there to me, there's even a groove in the plastic to make sure it stays put.

So had another bash at fixing my SID unit today.

Took it apart again, but this time I noticed that the actual display screen can be detached from the plastic unit that holds it in place, allowing access to the other end of the circuit ribbon.

There's also a thick rubber band that applies pressure to the ribbon from behind, this was squashed flat, so I moved it round so that fresh rubber was pressing on the ribbon and for good measure added some packing.

Re-assembled, re-installed and 'Hey Presto!'  I have a fully functional SID unit 

(Took some pictures if anyone is interested).

So I thought I'd have a go at the climate control display. Unfortunately there are two star bit screws that I don't have the right size bit for (must be tiny). So no progress with that as yet until I can find the right size star bit.

I'm assuming that the radio is in a 2001 9-3.

Tried repairing the SID unit today.

Managed to get it apart without destroying it and cleaned up around the ribbon as per this thread.

Mixed results really. There is an improvement, but it still isn't completely legible

Sorry Will, maybe I didn't explain it properly.

My car has the original stereo, I was assuming that like other cars I have owned, if the unit is removed or if the battery is disconnected it will need to have a security code entered in order for the unit to work again.

Is this not the case with Saabs? I was worried that if I need to disconnect the battery the radio wouldn't work any more.

Though I have the owners manual I do not have the radio code.

I found a place on line that will provide the code but they want £25!

There is also a place that will provide a download, but I need to know the manufacturer of the radio. I have looked all over and
cannot find anything to indicate who makes the Saab unit.

Any ideas guys?
