Correct spark plugs

Anyone know the correct spark plugs for a 9-5 model year 2000 with 2.3t engine (B235E) as I don't have the owners manual to refer to.  Is it NGK  BCPR-6ES-11,  BCPR-7ES-11 or BCR-8ES or something else?

Incidentally, is the resistance element the same value for all of them? (I am thinking if it will upset the Ignition Cassette as I have just had one fail with a burnt smell).

Hello and welcome!

What spec plugs are in there already?  It is recommended to replace with the same type.

I'd be inclined to go with NGK BCPR7ES-11 on that engine. Replace all four.

I'm using BCPR-6ES plugs gapped to 1.0mm in my 2000 2.3t. But 7ES should be fine too.

6ES will run the best and the 1.0mm will give you a bit more economy and pickup, as opposed to the 1.1mm. Lasts longer between services too as they have more 'gap' to burn on the electrodes.

Give it a try.

The numbers refer to the heat rating of the plug- higher performance engine need a "cooler" plug. The resistor function is the same in all

No, they're too warm. You can get away with BCPR7ES and change them more frequently but you're best off with PFR6H10

I've always used 7ES in my Aero's gapped to 1.0mm and just change them every other service.

No, they're too warm. You can get away with BCPR7ES and change them more frequently but you're best off with PFR6H10

Just to add that me motor is a Hirsch`d 280bhp model  does that make any difference to the above .. sorry to be a pain.

don't use the PFR 6's. They are the expensive platinum plugs that are standard for the Aero BUT- the Hirsch tune is actually designed to run on the much cheaper BCPR-7ES. Gapped at 1.0mm

In fact all Aero's run perfectly on the BCPR 7's.

Hey Paul .. thanks mate duly noted.   car going to indie next week for oil pressure switch and two new parking sensors, replaced the airbox with a JR induction kit (love the noise) and Im asking the indie to check the bushes all round see if they need renewing.

seriously looking at getting her done in vinyl wrap as its not a bad price and isnt totally permanent.

Induction filter eh! Had one on a stage 1 Aero a few years back - I too was a sucker for the PSSSST when you came off the throttle- do create a little splash guard where the bottom of the original filter box was, you don't want water sucked into the engine....

:o  That airbox is a special bigger one that's part of the Hirsch kit!!

I hope you haven't thrown it out.  Its quite expensive.....  how does £250 grab you?  ;)
