Isofix on 9-5 estate

Interesting - on my 2002 Aero Sedan I have isofix mounts and the back of the bottom of the seat lifts up so you can attach the child seat to the isofix mounts, however on the 2 9-5 estates (both MY2004) I've seen, the back of the seat did not open to reveal isofix, although both had the isofix mounts! Weird...

Have I missed anything? How to mount the isofix seat if the back of the seat does not lift up?

I have a 2003 9-5 estate and the iso-fix works in the back.  You just need a seat that has extendable iso-fix mounts.  Either that or just to have a bit of a struggle to get the seat in.  The other thing I used was a seat protector as the child seat does no good to the car seat.

seat protector was the same as this (really heavy duty) and needed to be trimmed a bit to put in.

The seat was one of these as there is an adjuster for the length of the iso bars.  You can see the yellow release lever in the photos. (didn't buy either of the items from the websites shown they are just to illustrate)

Hope that helps

Can you take a photo of your back seat? I'm sure you couldn't get to these isofix mounts on these 2 estates, however you can on my sedan which has the little rear openings in the bottom part.

Sorry for the poor quality only had the iphone to hand.  There are no lift up flaps but the fixings are there and there is a little tag on the seat to show it's isofix.  As I said it doesn't do your cars rear seats any good as you need to squash them down so much to make it fit.

2 pics one with the squab lifted and one just squashing it with my hand.

Thanks, tried it yesterday and you are right. Not really an elegant solution I must say...

Sorry to drag up this old thread but a bit pertinent to me at the mo'.

I understand that there is no one fits all standard for isofix. Could anybody tell me if the isofix points on all Saab models are the same?
I have them on my OG9-3 but wonder if they are the same on 06 onwards 9-5's? We need to buy a new child seat and I'd like to get an isofix as at seems to be the safest solution, however come the new year I may well be in the market for a 9-5 and don't want to buy something now that wont fit if I change the car.

I thought I'd already asked about this on another thread but I can't find it, so apologies if I'm repeating myself :)

I'll try and remember to take a photo of floor under reg seats of my 2007 estate.  I need to do that for someone else too...

Lovely, thanks very much. I think there should be a top tether point too behind the headrest..

Here we go...

The top fixing is the seat back latching point but the loop protrudes behind the seat and I am using it to attach the metal dog guard...

Thanks sgould, sorry I missed your reply I have been checking back for the last few weeks so don't know how I missed this..

The top tether doesn't appear to be the same as the 9-3, I've attached a grab from the 9-3 user manual. There are 3 anchorage points located directly behind each headrest on the belt anchorage beam.. hmmm

We've actually picked up a Graco non-isofix seat from Aldi for a wapping £40. Graco is a good manufacturer but we are yet to open the box and check it out, it may be returned.
And I'm still in two minds about the benefits of isofix over seat belt, at the end of the day a child seat needs to have some flex in a crash. From what I can gather, isofix is best in a side impact but front or rear impact a seat belt restraint will subject the child to less force ..
