Aircon condenser

There seem to be at least 4 different part numbers for the aircon condenser "radiator" at the front of the 9-5. What is the difference between them are are they interchangeable and what is the right one for an Aero 9-5 estate model yr 2002? Don't want to get it wrong as they are quite expensive.

PS What is the canister thing attached to the condenser radiator?

Hi, you want 5048350 although some radiators are interchangeable but as I've never tried every radiator on every car I can't advise precisely which would fit and which wouldn't. some will put the filler cap into a slightly inaccessible place though. The canister is the drier bottle.

There's basically two types: pre and post facelift. As quinophex says, if you fit the earlier one in a later car, the filler port is obscured and you have to bend the trim out of the way to access it (I did this on mine because I picked up a s/h condensor without realising the difference...). The driers and pipework also require a little "persuasion" to fit.

There's also different part numbers for the dame edna's not sure if they can be made to fit with persuasion or not

I have also been told that the canister on the side is a "reservoir" rather than a "drier". Is there a difference or is it the same part and shape for all 9-5's?

Wondering whether it needs to be replaced at the same time.

Reservoir and drier would be the same thing, if system has been open to moisture for any extended time it is recommended it is replaced.

Sorry to go on about this but the part numbers do seem confused in the suppliers I have seen. Does 5046990 and 5048491 refer to an equivalent (and dimensionally fitting) part to 5048350, rather like the "old" numbers for the DI cartridge? Perhaps those with access to the official manual can help?

The EPC states that for 2002 - 2006 MY from chassis no. 23038000 to 33017759 the part no. for the radiator/condenser is 5048350, which replaced part no. 5046990 which was for cars up to chassis no. 23037999 (pre facelift I assume) and the part no. for the reservoir is 4759072
