A car is a hunk of metal into which you pour expensive liquids, nothing more, nothing less.
Some might regard it as a status symbol or "sexual attractant", but at the end of the day it is just a hunk of metal - same as a fridge or washing machine.....

Edited to add, as posted many years ago on "another" forum, I once had a boss who, when his wife called him to tell him she had had an accident whilst transporting a group of young girls, his first response was "How damaged is the car?"

Yes but what does SHE look like? Does she take the same care over her own appearance? Unlike the pair near us who have two "quality" krautmobiles, washed religiously even if it's raining, but he looks like Desperate Dan with a builder's cleavage and a Neanderthal brow, and dresses like Rab C Nesbitt, whilst his other 'arf would give Florrie Capp a run for her money (dog-end, house-coat and slippers being the standard front-step style).

I dress sloppy, drive sloppy and wash the car when I need to fill in forms about it that have a box marked "colour". At least I'm consistent.

On the 9-5 I've only heard of putting poly into the transmission mount.  Something I plan to do soon.  But it does add a bit of vibration.  If you can find all poly mounts you will be replacing the hydraulic engine mounts.  I would expect this to make the car really harsh.

Even if your current car is "floppy" you will probably find that new standard bushes are enough in most cases.

I would suggest the transmission mount and the rear trailing arm bushes.  Maybe the anti-roll bushes.  But only if you don't mind harshness.

this has all come about after piston 4 melted the crown, and my saab indie who has been used by my family suggested using the stronger block, i have no intention of tuning bar the stage 1 ecu it has,
engine mount wise that helps i do about 30k a year so think the standard is the best way to go,
bushes wise thats interesting, i was planning to swap shocks to koni fsd's so i think will just go down standard route with that 2,

I do agree with all the coments on the cars,
i'm of 2 minds i like to have a shiny car, and as its black it looks much nicer clean but as i do so much milage and often have to park in feilds or other rather grubby places it tends only to happen during the summer,
the inside on the other had, being tan with tan carpets, i get the polaks(no offence ment)

to do it tleast once a months otherwise she looks like rab c nesbit, on a bad day.

it is each to there own but ive always been a car man, so i try look after them, and as we've had saabs in the family since the 70's nothing better than looking after them in my opinion

and i love the change if topic makes it fun
