Hey all,
After a couple of years living with (not really enjoying :( ) my 1989 9000 Aero frankensaab, my wife and I are looking into getting an MY03-MY05 9-5 Estate.
Due to my wife having a chronic back issue, she requires the electric seats as she adjusts the seats quite regularly on journeys over 15 mins.
With this in mind, if i were to buy a vehicle with mechanical seats, is there wiring in place to just bolt in some electric seats?
thanks in advance.

Don't think wiring is always there but most if not all aero's around that time will have electric seats and late 2002/2003 have memory on drivers seat. The aero I'm selling has

Note there are differences on the MY04/05 model - revised breather system in a bid to cure the blocked-strainer issue (plus different cosmetics at the front: round fogs etc). I.e. MY03-MY05 is not all the same.

In regard to the year model, it has been narrowed down to MY04-MY05 - I do not want to have to deal with PCV updates etc.
Unfortunately, I have not seen any Aeros for sale around (I'm in Australia) and they came standard with electric seats with drivers memory.  My frankensaab has the electric seats out of my 9000 Aero I used for parts.

I have my eye on 2 Linears, one is MY04 and the other is MY05.  It also seems, that Australia doesnt have many Arc or Vector models around, at least in the 2nd hand market...

It's worth persevering and chasing down a car with memory seats.

I have my normal seat position set in 1.  My wife uses 2 and I now use 3 as an alternative and change between 1 & 3 on the move when I feel like a change of position.   But 3 is "low and relaxed" and 1 is more "sit up tall".  I tend to use 1 around town and 3 on a long journey.

I do exactly the same sgould. Quite useful really except wife won't drive the auto but that's now being replaced by manual Vector Sport with electric seats and memory so she'll drive that.

incidentally not all aero's had electric seats. I've seen a couple of 2003/2004 models with just purely electric but no memory.

Grentarc,

Where in Oz are you?

You are going to struggle a bit to get an Aero or Vector wagon in that year range. They do come up, but are quite rare though. TBH I would not get a Linear, yes I have one, and it is fabulous. BUT my Aero is a completely different machine in many respects. You get more gear on the car, more value and most of all more POWER. Seriously more power.

You could even consider ringing a few wholesale supplier dealers and get them to hunt one down for you. I bought mine that way and saved a packet.

Hang in there and be patient.

A lot of MY04-on will be electric but not memory - it's around then that they 'de-contented' the Aero, and things like the memory seats were part of the 'Lux Pack' option. When I was looking for an 04/5 car I would say the large majority were without.

I'm from Wagga, NSW.
I currently drive a 9000 with a B234R, TD04-19t turbo and custom ecu map, so a standard 9-5 Linear is pretty slow in comparison. I think I will keep an eye out for a good condition Aero.
My father has contacts in the car dealers in Melbourne, and said he will get his friends to keep an eye out for any Aero's being traded down there.

thanks for the help in deciding guys!
