11 weeks !!!! Whaaaaaat.......

Some old boy pulled into the side of my estate and took in the rear door, wheel arch, wing, bumper and the alloy. Nice mess.

Hire car was deleivered the next day by accident exchange and my car taken to Saab approved repairer and returned looking like new 2 weeks later. Fantastic job.

What on eartht were they doing for so long or did it take a long while to get repairs authourised?????

I was worried about colour match as mine is the silver grey metallic (see avatar) that I think looks like metallic primer. Colour match was perfection.

You tell me! I think it took them a while to find a suitable s/h tailgate (which, BTW, judging from the stickers in its window, came from Norfolk!). No problem with authorisation and the repairers eventually did a great job - mine's same colour as yours, Jim, and the new paintwork's immaculate. Meantime, I've spent 11 weeks waltzing around in a brand new Volvo estate hire car at 40mpg, so I'm not complaining.

Hopefully you didn't settle via one of the less scrupulous claims management companies and get an unexpected bill for it, as some unfortunates have in the past!

Nope - all arranged by the RAC, in the best possible taste.  8)

'RSPB Minsmere' and 'The Round Tower Church Society' - both of some age (fell apart on removal).

Minsmere be sarfolk not narfolk boi.................

I had a 1 week old Audi A4 Avant 2.0tdi S line heap of 5hite. Felt like park bench to sit on and small inside with really hard ride. Much worse than the Hirsch suspension on my old aero. I would have been happy with ovlov

Had a similar Audi as hire car last week and was interested to see what it was like. The engine response I thought eas really good and 6th gear meant very good mpg on the motorway. Also liked response of steering. However, seat was awful only made worse by the ride - inwas pleased to get back in my own 95 armchair.....

Recently had an Audi TT on loan from a friend for a weekend as they needed my Aero Estate to move there oldest to college.

Well I can say the performance was OK but not as quick as mine and the seats were as had been said so hard, I did about 100 miles and can say the Saab was like having a comfortable pair of slippers back.

My friend came back telling me how impressed he was with mine and has been looking on the net to see if he can find one of an equivalent value to his TT so he can do a swap without SWMBO  complaining.

He has made an interesting observation, most TT's have lowish mileage for there age but most Saab 9-5 Aero's have highish mileage. That must say something.

Anybody know of a 98 or 97 Aero Estate manual with 30 or 40,000 miles on it for sale anywhere in the South of England?

You won't find one as the estate wasn't introduced until the 1999 model year and neither was the Aero  ;)

Saying that I did see a 1999 9-5 Aero saloon with under 50k on it for sale recently and several of our customers at work have low mileage 9-5's running about, but then most of them know that their car is worth stuff all and they like them so don't want to change. Anyhow the TT is a bit of a weekend car, something you use for fun after racking the miles up on your "normal" car, also I can't see that many TT's were sold as company rep cars so wouldn't have had the chance to rack up a silly amount of miles for the first few years of their life.

Guy in the office has a brand spankers TT but is of "no fixed abode"...a curious state of affairs IMHO.

We keep ribbing him about it being a hairdresser's car, though he does say "at least I didn't get an MX5, which is a hairdresser's receptionist's car..."

Unless hairdressers do home visits, I guess they don't do high mileages!

Final chapter to this saga: the car was finally finished and signed off about three weeks ago - after an accident last August! It was returned in November but after about two days I realised there was no tailgate badging and the park assist wasn't working. It took the repairer from then until now to authorise the work from the local Saab dealership. Anyway, it's fixed now, four new discs as well and running like a dream. Without the advice from folk here, it would have been written off, so thanks everyone - I couldn't have done it without you.

Wow, that is a bit of a saga! Glad it came  through for you in the end :)
