I've got a MY 2005 9-3 Sportwagon.

Taking it to Jam Saab in Bristol today for a new duel mass flywheel and clutch. Expecting a £1000 bill, but not too bad as it's on the original and done over 175,000 miles.

When you were at JamSaab, did they have a silver 9-5 as a courtesy car? Sold my old one to JamSaab back in Jan 2009 which was going to be used as a courtesy car IIRC:

Just waiting to get it but having now sold my 9-5 Aero estate have put deposit on a diesel.

Car is a 55 Reg 2.2tid 9-5 Vector Sport manual estate in silver. Full main dealer history and one owner. It looks identical to an aero with the newer front (not dame edna but with deeper spoiler and round fog lights) and aero alloys. Quite unusual it has got both front seats electric with memory drivers seat and both front and back are heated! Folding mirrors and rain sensing wipers. So all the kit but with 50mpg instead of 30 - 34 mpg.

It will of course go to Abbotts for a bit more oomph of 330Nm. Apparently Ed Abbott has been driving one around for several months now and loves it.

You'll be one of the first to know.

I will fall off my perch if it is much different to now. I suppose it could be a little more just because the car is 3 years younger. Getting a little spooky as the reg dates are only a day apart but by 3 years.

Don't know when they stopped making this one as it is late September 2005 car so I assume 2006 model???

WIll let you know as I should collect it 1st August to ensure max road fund license, which looks like being £50 less. All looking good so far but famous last words..............

As per my Steinbauer P-box. From a driving viewpoint, it was certainly worth it, but I'm still smarting from the insurance impact!

Car is now insured for pick up on Monday and without Abbott remap (or I noticed Hirsch discounted price is slightly less money) my premium has gone down by 30 quid but I suppose I do have to factor in it's a much newer car to start with so wondering what it will be with the additional 25hp.

When I did my aero the difference was a rise of about 75 quid so if its around that mark with this one I'll be dead chuffed - not that it helps you Geoff

Hi My Saab Afficianandos

Well we can I start at present I have a saab 93 viggen coupe which I drive in the winter and for the summer I have a Saab 93 viggen convertible and for work I have a saab 93 vector deisel 150 bhp everyone in my family drives saab's and we have have had other cars but we keep going back to saabs.
I think I have had most of the saab range dating from a 9000 aero ,900 convertible classic, 900 classic t16s turbo 16v,900 talledega,95 hot aero,estate and saloon,to latest 93 deisel and petrol aero version currently driven by sister
we are based in birmingham and we have a wonderful mechanics at West Midland Saab, Paul and John who look after our cars

 Go for it Jim! Mind you, the additional premium when I first Hirsched my 2.3t was £36, for half a year. Rather more at full renewal. By the by, I was asking a cycling pal what he'd finally chosen as his new company car, after putting 60k on a Passat. Audi A5, he said, with the 2.0 diesel. 140 bhp, he bragged. then I told him my 9-5 had 185 BEFORE I Hirsched it. And more torques. And more speed and acceleration. And flappy paddle gearbox. Only downside - fuel consumption, but disregraded 'cos he doesn't have to pay for his anyway. Top Trumps score - Geoff 5, cycling pal 0.

I came back to SAAB at the end of July 2008.

Back in December 1994 I purchased an April '92, 9000 CS 2.0 lpt in Imola Red which I kept until it was a little over six years old. Owning and driving that car made me feel, and that I had, something special. (Unfortunately some reliability issues and servicing costs were less so).

A friend had a 9-5, 250bhp Aero Estate (2003) and whilst it was with the dealer for a few days he had the use of a 9-3 ss. One evening he came to my door and asked if I was "coming out to play"; with the result that I had "a shottie" of the 9-3. Can you recall the outline sketch of a figure driving, which SAAB has used in the past, and how the artist draws a big grin on the figure's face? Well according to my friend, I had a similar grin whilst at the wheel of that SAAB and as far as I was concerned I wanted one. 

The result is that I now own a September 2005 (MY06), 9-3 Vector 1.9 TiD (150 bhp) in Nocturne Blue with Parchment interior. I live in Aberdeenshire, Scotland and bought the car at my local SAAB dealer in Aberdeen.

That feeling is back and this time round I reckon it's outweighing any negatives.

Just joined and wanted to say hello!

Car is a late 2003 (MY2004) 9-3SS 2.0T Aero with 138k on the clock. It was my daily wheels for seven happy years, covering 20k per annum until I changed jobs last year and was given a non-Saab company car

Now the Aero is in semi retirement, coming out to play at weekends and holidays. It puts a big smile on my face very time I get in it, never mind drive it!
