Well - it's going on the Tech2 device on Monday morning. I'm led to believe the best it can do is tell me front or rear - which is a lot better than I can do at the moment.

Tech-II can diagnose more than that and can point at wiring faults or other components.

Turns out the rear sensor is the culprit. Will also replace cable which, for the rear, is part of the main body harness (£2k-ish) - so the trick is to use a front cable cut and soldered into the body harness (with the 2 signal wires reversed!). £100 for the parts alone.

Replaced connector and the sensor - and got the luxury of re-calibrating the headlamp alignment (although how far they would have been out with a new sensor remains unknown to me). I've got the old parts for a post-mortem when I get around to it.
All this had cost me a painful £250.

Has anyone got a Tech2? I've go the chance of one cheap-ish - would you recommend getting one for the ordinary man in the street. It will probably save me about £100 next time I need anything like this doing.
